OUR STORY
Emergicare is owned and operated by Kasey Saunders, a Family Nurse Practitioner, and her husband, Brandon. Kasey and Brandon are longtime Rockingham County residents who met while providing care to the community through EMS at Harrisonburg Rescue Squad. Kasey was an Emergency Department nurse for 9 years before completing her Master’s degree in Nursing at James Madison University to become an FNP in 2012.
With two decades of experience, they are thrilled to serve the community once again at their very own urgent care and wellness clinic. As an independent clinic with no ties to any hospital system, we strive to provide quality, personalized, and convenient care to all. Kasey is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in Emergency medicine as an RN and a nurse practitioner. She attended James Madison University for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2003) and her Master of Science in Nursing (2012) to earn her Family nurse practitioner certification. Kasey sees patients in the urgent care clinic and also specializes in aesthetic services, such as Botox, chemical peels, dermal fillers and medical grade skin care products. Most recently she’s developed an interest in medical weight loss, which is now offered at Emergicare as well.

Sarah S.

Sarah graduated from UNH, Durham, NH in 2002 with a BS in Health Policy and Management. In 2010 she graduated from Simmons College, Boston, Massachusetts with a dual masters with Adult NP and Women's Health NP. In December 2024 she will graduate from JMU with her Doctor of Nursing Practice. She has worked as a nurse practitioner in a variety of settings including urgent care, academia, wellness/beauty, women's health, college health, free clinic volunteer, oncology, clinical research, and hospice/ palliative care. Globally, she has volunteered in Ethiopia in HIV and primary care.

Pete H.

Pete has spent most of his life in Virginia, growing up in Charlottesville. He began his career at the University of Virginia, caring for ill and injured children at the Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center. He then pursued training as an English and History teacher at Eastern Mennonite University and taught in a nursing program in Louisa, Virginia, for four years. In 2005, he returned to the University of Virginia to complete his training as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
In 2008, he founded the non-profit Elkton Family and Children's Medical Clinic, where he served until 2022. He left the clinic to answer a lifelong calling to serve in impoverished overseas medical projects through Mount Olive Brethren Church. When not engaged in medical missions, Pete divides his time between his two grandchildren, volunteering with local agencies such as Elkton Area United Services, and caring for patients at EmergiCare.

RADIOLOGY TECH, MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Chayson, a native of Harrisonburg/Rockingham County, is ARRT certified and graduated in 2007 with a degree in Radiological Sciences from Keiser University in Tallahassee, Florida. With 17 years of experience in the field, he has dedicated 11 years to Diagnostic Imaging and 6 years to Special Procedures. Outside of work, Chayson enjoys spending time with his wife of 22 years, collecting Case knives, watching football, enjoying life at Smith Mountain Lake, and engaging in outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.

TaeAhn graduated from James Madison University in 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and a minor in Family Studies. In 2024, she completed her Master's degree in Health Administration with a concentration in executive leadership from George Mason University. She is fluent in both English and Korean.

Ashton is a medical receptionist at the clinic. He is a local graduate of Broadway High School. He is currently starting his junior year at James Madison University with a major in Biology. Ashton is a huge hockey fan (GO CAPS!), enjoys skiing and is part of the Madison Motorsports club!
